what is the world coming to!?
Wow guys . . . maybe no one will be as shocked as me, maybe you all saw it coming, maybe you are simply smarter than me . . . but I am using spreadsheets in real life, here at work, and that concept absolutely shocks me!
I know - I thought it was just an evil game that the likes of pierre would force onto the meek and mild of the world, but apperently they have use. Actually (I'm not really saying this, I swear) it's making my job easier . . . whoda thunk?

Emily and Joanna, I am so glad you have discovered the value of spreadsheets as i did! wonderful things (when they work right, you know how to use them, and they don't mangle information accidentally) aren't they?
My dad (Mr. Spreadsheet, he loves those things to pieces) tried for years to convince my brother and I that spreadsheets would save the world, and us too. Alas, he failed, it was only MathEcon that won me over. Needless to say, my brother is still on the dark side of this one.
While the two of you are enjoying spreadsheets, i have only used them as a useful place to draw boxes, or to make ridiculously long lines of text. I have, however, been introduced to a program which is almost as good as Excel, called Access, which is used to make databases. (the very thought of that made me cringe a mere few months ago...databases!). Actually, it is convinient how much of Excel also works in Access.
I am trying to guess where orientation will be, and i am guessing as follows. (Old) RC website pictures reveal that orientation was at St. Croix historic site a few years back, so i am guessing they will be there again. It overlooks the island where (oh dear, my social studies learning escapes me... Champlain?) landed and set up a colony, and then most of them died of scurvy. Guess they should have taken you along, Joanna, so you could show they how to keep a garden and make ...zucchini veggie pouches? Where was I? Why don't i remember? Can you remind me how to make them, please?
And look at that. Either all posts are irrelevant, or they are all relevant. I like to think the second one.
